Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
I am located downtown Everett, WA in the Keybank Tower.
The address is 2707 Colby Avenue, Suite 603, Everett, WA, 98201.
Do you offer Telehealth Therapy?
Yes. I conduct online sessions through a HIPAA compliant platform called Simple Practice. We can do therapy online only or alternating between in-person and online. It’ s up to you. You get to choose.
How much do services cost?
THERAPY: My standard rate for individual therapy is $165 for a 50 minute session. For couple’s therapy it is $185 for a 50 minute session. I do not currently take insurance, however, this is something I am currently working towards. In the meantime, I can provide a Superbill for Individual Therapy sessions that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.
ASSESSMENT and CONSULTING: Please contact me for more information.
Do you offer a sliding scale fee?
Yes, I believe strongly that finances should not stand in the way of receiving mental health care. I reserve a limited number of sliding scale fee slots for individuals who do not have insurance and are struggling financially. Please contact me to see if you qualify.
How do I pay for your services?
Credit/debit cards or HSA (Health Savings Accounts) cards are processed automatically at the end of each session through STRIPE, a HIPAA secure platform.
Do you take insurance?
Not yet but I am working on it! In the meantime, if you have insurance, I can provide you with a monthly Super-bill that you can turn in for reimbursement. It is important you check with your insurance company before therapy begins to make sure you understand if they will reimburse you and how much they will reimburse.
What is your cancellation policy?
When you book your appointment, you are holding a space on my calendar that is no longer available to other clients. If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, I ask that you let me know at least 24 hours before your session time in order to give me time to schedule someone else. Unless it is for an emergency, late cancellations and no-shows, the full session fee may be charged.
Why are sessions 50 min versus an hour?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes to allow a 10 minute break between clients. This is important to allow me to shift gears from the last client to the next client. This benefits you and the other clients.
Can I do a longer session?
Sometimes longer sessions are necessary. If I do not have a client scheduled after you, it may be possible to extend the session. It is important to note longer sessions will also change the fee. Sometimes, I may suggest longer sessions, especially when doing EMDR or the HEART model. This is something we would talk about and plan ahead for.
How often should I do therapy?
It depends. Usually, it is helpful to meet every week to get to know each other and establish a strong foundation for the work we will do. But there are always exceptions. Again, this is something we would decide together based on your needs and schedule.
How long does therapy last?
This also depends. I know, annoying. Everyone is so unique. The lenght of therapy will depend largely on your goals, the type of work we are doing, if there is trauma, the type of trauma etc. Therapy can be as brief as a few months and as long as years. This is something we would discuss early on and revisit regularly.
What happens in the first session?
In the first session, we will go over your rights as a client and I will ask you some follow up questions to the paperwork you will have filled out. This session typically is 90 minutes so that you also have a chance to share what has been going on that has lead you to seek therapy. I know it’s hard to talk to a stranger, this is why I alot extra time for us to get to know each other and not be rushed.
Ok, I’m down, what do I do now?
STEP ONE
Book a free, 15-minute phone consultation. Please know there is no pressure for you to decide to work with me. This is simply an opportunity for us to get to know each other and see if we are a good fit. If we aren’t, I will do my best to refer you to someone who may be a better match for you.
STEP TWO
If we are a good fit, I will send you some intake paperwork and we will schedule a 90-minute initial session. During this first session, we will discuss your current situation, relevant history and goals to create a personalized treatment plan.
STEP THREE
We will meet weekly or every other week depending on your specific needs until you have reached your goals for therapy.
